The Gordon Schools’ ECC seamlessly integrates the celebration of holidays into the curriculum. The thematic units emerge from the Jewish calendar, highlighting the values associated with each holiday. The ECC engages families throughout the year with events including a Thanksgiving gamily breakfast, Chanukah celebrations, Model Passover Seders, a Purim carnival and more.
(Welcoming the Sabbath)
Every Friday morning, the ECC celebrates Shabbat as one big family. Cantor Julie brings this experience to a new level with her singing and the sound of her guitar. On a rotating basis, each class goes to the bimah and leads services in song and prayer, as well as a short presentation based on the current thematic unit. Shabbat is a time for celebrating birthdays and life cycle events. Families and friends are always welcome!
The journey through Early Childhood is one that embraces the entire family. We are mindful of creating opportunities for parent engagement. Mother’s Day Shabbat, the Man-in-My-Life breakfast and Generations’ Day are very special times for our youngest students, and enrich the school experience.
PJ Library/PJ Goes to School
We are proud to be a community partner in the PJ Library program, which includes story time at Books & Books with an extended activity facilitated by one of our ECC teachers, as well as community- wide events. Furthermore, our ECC has been selected to participate in the program, PJ Goes to School, for the past two years, which enhances our curriculum by training teachers to use wonderful books that focus on specific Jewish values.
